It’s undeniable that the objectivity of major media outlets has been compromised by loyalty to advertisers, many of their biggest customers being companies in the pharmaceutical industry. The greed of powerful drug companies such as Merck is combined with strong political ties that make for a shameful display of racketeering-like behavior that should not exist in a free country. This is not free enterprise, but rather bold-faced abuse of the American system that seems to be largely overlooked by or even enabled by governmental regulatory agencies. A committee in the House of Representatives is looking into allegations that pharmaceutical companies are reaping windfall profits at the expense of US taxpayers. Unlike Medicaid, a program designed to assist impoverished Americans, drugs in Medicare Part D that are sold to the government directly (and consumers indirectly) are not discounted. Medicare serves primarily senior citizens and the disabled.

This conflict is being raised in light of a larger issue, that of the privatization of government programs such as Medicare. Any way you slice it, this is a sweet deal for the drug companies and their bottom lines. I was always under the impression that privatization increases competition, thus reducing costs — or at least it should. With everyone struggling during these tough economic times (especially those on fixed incomes), it would seem that price controls on drugs would be appropriate on all medications sold to the government regardless of the particular program they are attached to. However, it really should come as no surprise that this deal was cut. The FDA and other government agencies have always had a cozy relationship with Big Pharma. Add to this the fact that pharmaceutical companies spend a small fortune on political contributions, and it is very plain to see why the madness — companies selling hazardous chemicals to people at exorbitant profits that are supposed to improve their health, but often only make them sicker — continues year after year.

In another frightening example of pretzel logic that is the unfortunate trade mark of the FDA and Big Pharma conglomerate, a plan is in the works to make it illegal to manufacture or distribute one of nature’s many powerful and beneficial substances known as vitamin B6. This would be bad enough if it were an isolated incident, but it is just one of many cases that have surfaced in recent decades that demonstrate the hostile attitude of the powers that be towards those who seek to treat and prevent disease naturally rather than through the use of hazardous chemicals produced by the pharmaceutical industry.

As we discussed earlier this week here on the blog, freedoms of all types, including the freedom to choose how we manage the health or our families, are in serious peril in this land. Perhaps it will get to the point where we will be forced to go “off the grid,” so to speak, and remove ourselves from any activity or association with conventional medicine or any type of health insurance. The only way to beat the forces that seek to squeeze us into their mold may be to quit using their services altogether and take care of our own doctoring the way it was done in centuries past. The only other route would be a revolution in this country that restores the rights of us all to practice health care as we best see fit without being persecuted and harassed by ridiculous policies instituted by authorities who are driven and influenced by profits instead of the welfare of the public.

It appears Big Pharma and the established system of conventional medicine is not satisfied with the millions of adults that are prescribed statin drugs every year, but are now going after the children’s market. Despite the known, but often underplayed, hazards of statin use in adults, a leading pediatrician’s organization is now recommending cholesterol testing for children as young as 2, and the administration of statin drugs to children as young as 8. The article below includes an astounding statement by a supporter of these plans, admitting that there is little research on the effects of these drugs on children, but that they are considered “generally safe.” Well, we’ve certainly heard those words before!

The obesity epidemic amongst American kids is being used to justify the use of these toxic drugs. Here again we have classic AMA thinking that seeks to throw toxic pharmaceuticals at a health problem instead of addressing the real cause behind the alarming rates of heart disease in this country. Pediatricians, of all people, should be standing up and declaring that our children must be taught to eat real, whole foods instead of the steady diet of pre-packaged junk and fast-food that most consume, along with a lifestyle that encourages lots of physical activity. Instead, they are telling parents to give dangerous drugs to their children, drugs that will only harm them and not help reduce their risk of disease. A quick fix, if you will. Such foolishness as this only robs physicians of the little integrity they have left in the eyes of many these days. It is a travesty that one must question every recommendation given by doctors, as many of them are blinded to the truth by the propaganda put out by Big Pharma and the “researchers” they fund.

A recent study has found that the use of Accutane, one of the largest selling acne drugs, may lead to depression and suicidal behaviors in patients who take this toxic substance at the advice of their physician. As with most pharmaceuticals, this drug can result in a number of significant side effects. Even if a person using Accutane does not suffer from depression, the chemical make up of this foreign substance can wreak havoc in the body, and as the article below points out, Accutane actually includes an ingredient that was originally designed as a chemotherapy drug!

Once again, we see that the pharmaceutical companies are not practicing full disclosure when it comes to the dangers involved with using this substance. Accutane, in particular, is prescribed so often because it has such a high success rate at improving (temporarily) the effects of acne. It is critical that we learn about any drug that is prescribed to us, as we will most likely not be told the whole story by our health care providers. Many doctors prescribe drugs for their patients based solely on the numbers or supposed effectiveness of the drug. Americans want quick results, but as is the case with this kind of “doctoring,” the issues that are causing the underlying health problems are not dealt with, and the “cure” can often be worse than the “cause.” Choosing a lifestyle that pursues wellness will do much more to treat and prevent disease than any amount of dangerous drugs, which only tend to expose the patient to additional risks.

The following story addresses a current issue that has huge implications regarding health freedoms in this country. Once again we see that the “fox is guarding the hen-house,” so to speak. Big Pharma, the FDA, and other parties that do not want Americans to have free access to natural substances are working through the media to discredit vitamins, supplements, herbs, and even nutritional foods. We see the same old patterns at work, often involving inaccurate research studies that are purposely manipulated to show skewed results.

The goal of those carrying this agenda is to outlaw any substance or procedure that they consider to be in competition with pharmaceuticals and other conventional medical treatments. But even beyond that, there are some who would seek to keep “nutritionals” legal, but only allow those approved by the FDA to be sold.

There have been many conflicts of interest over the years when it comes to research involving drugs and other medical procedures. A story released last week is particularly alarming because it involves compromised research that has significantly fueled the practice of giving dangerous psychiatric drugs to our children, a phenomenon that has exploded over the last decade or so. Policies based on the findings of several prominent child psychiatrists have resulted in the use of these drugs on thousands of children, and it is now coming to light that these doctors were given funding by various drug companies that manufacture and sell these medications. To make matters even worse, many others in the field of child psychiatry are vehemently disagreeing with these policies, claiming that many of these children did not need these drugs, and were potentially harmed by their use.

It is scandalous that we cannot trust the advice given by many physicians, most with the best intentions of providing quality health care to their patients. Unfortunately, they are lied to just as blatantly as we the general public is regarding the safety and appropriate use of many medications. When the motive behind such propaganda is billions of dollars of potential profit, the health and welfare of the consumers using these products (drugs) is the least consideration. Please be aware of and consider information such as that disclosed in the following article before ever submitting to the use of medications or treatment for yourself or your family. We must become educated and monitor a system that has shown time and time again that it does not have the integrity to police itself.

Once again the pharmaceutical companies are trying to fast talk the public and the medical community into believing that they have the best interests of consumers in mind while pushing medications that are clearly linked to known health hazards. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when these companies are discussing the potential for sales and profits from drugs that are designed to block the pleasure centers of the brain so that people can supposedly stop overeating, quit smoking, or break a dependence on other drugs. Marketing executives must be drooling at the thought of the size of the customer base that could be established here. The only problem is that a significant percentage of people who take such drugs are having urges to kill themselves, and in some cases have gone through with it.

This is a classic example of the twisted thinking that pervades the propaganda fed to us by drug companies, advertisers, and even many in conventional medicine. A pill for a symptom and then another pill for the side-effects from the first pill and before long the patient is on 8 different meds for what started out to be something as benign as desiring to lose weight. A prime example of how many people get “legally hooked” on drugs – the dream that Big Pharma wants for everyone.

One of the most popular asthma/allergy drugs used by millions here in the US and around the world may cause mental and emotional changes in some patients that could lead to suicide. Already fraught with admitted side-effects such as anxiety and depression, the FDA is taking a closer look at Singulair, a drug that produces billions in annual sales for Big Pharma giant Merck.

Many of the drugs prescribed for asthma are potentially very toxic, especially to children. They often contain steroids and other dangerous substances that will cause long-term damage to patients. Now it appears that suicide must be added to the list of potentially harmful side effects as well. There are many natural remedies for the treatment of asthma, such as a diet that eliminates food allergens, plenty of fresh air, and exercise (swimming is especially good for asthmatics as long as the water is not chlorinated). If you or a loved one suffers from asthma, please do your research before agreeing to the use of medications. Your physician may not be telling you the whole story when it comes to the risks involved.

The British equivalent of the FDA has apparently had enough of the shenanigans of the pharmaceutical industry and is seeking to pass legislation that would force them to be totally truthful regarding findings discovered during drug trials. As it now stands, both in England and here in the US, drug companies are allowed by law to play all kinds of games regarding disclosure about potential dangers related to the pharmaceuticals they manufacture and market. The stakes of these cloak and dagger operations are very high, with potentially fatal side effects being withheld in some cases.

These legal drug dealers are a formidable foe, commanding huge amounts of capital and political influence. However, if the Europeans begin to hold them accountable, perhaps there is then hope for us here in the US. The drugs they push are very dangerous substances, and it is criminal that they are allowed to withhold such pertinent information. In addition, as the article points out, even when drugs are approved, the potential long-term effects may not be known for many years. The last few generations have been used as guinea pigs, and there may be a big price to pay regarding the health and welfare of the recipients of such drugs. But as the saying goes, money does not talk, it screams, and the profits keep rolling in for Big Pharma despite the legacy of death and deception that is left behind in the wake.

Just when I thought I had seen it all, Big Pharma and the United States Government have stooped to a new low. There is legislation currently before Congress that, if passed, would authorize the use of antidepressants on mothers-to-be in an attempt to control postpartum depression. The insanity of exposing mothers and unborn children to these toxic and very dangerous drugs is almost beyond belief.

In essence, in the twisted eyes of the drug companies and other sponsors of this legislation, pregnancy has now become a mental illness. The only explanation for this kind of pretzel logic is the profits that stand to be made by the massively increased sales of these drugs, along with a mentality that seeks to control and manipulate the people for the sake of the greater worth, at least according to those who subscribe to this philosophy. There is still time to stop this madness before it becomes law, and the article below gives some practical ways that you can make your voice heard.
