Families who are awaiting the courts decisions regarding lawsuits connecting autism in their children from vaccines the children have received are paying close attention to an announcement made this week. The vaccine court established by congress to handle disputes regarding the damaging effects of vaccinations has recommended payment to a Georgia family because they have found enough evidence to conclude that their daughters autism-related condition was aggravated by a vaccine.

Friday, March 7th, 2008Cancer Survivors Trained as Treatment Consultants: Is the Fox Watching the Hen House?
Tuesday, February 19th, 2008On the surface, it appears as an idea with some merit. Train people who have been through the maze of possible cancer treatments as coaches for other patients who are newly diagnosed. However, upon closer inspection, it is apparent that there are some serious concerns associated with this program. The main red flag is due to the parties that are sponsoring this treatment coaching. It is funded in part by major pharmaceutical companies and other organizations that have links to the cancer industry. You can be certain that the seminars used to train volunteers and paid coaches heavily push the highly profitable drugs and procedures that fuel Big Cancer. Alternative remedies and cancer support therapies that have saved numerous lives without the hazardous side effects associated with chemotherapy and surgery are conveniently left off the curriculum or are offered, at best, as something to think about, while it is emphasized that natural therapies have never been proven and are therefore not scientific. Of course, neither have chemotherapy or radiation; but they are promoted as being cutting-edge, scientific, and providing the best chance for survival.
Another problem I have with this coaching program is that it assumes people do not have the capability to research and choose their own alternatives when it comes to health care. This underlying philosophy of our government that we will take care of you because you are not smart enough to take care of yourself flows over into allopathic healthcare, thus taking the individuals responsibility for their personal wellness away from them. No one is responsible for your health or lack of it but YOU! While I admit that weeding through cancer information may be difficult at best, it can be done. Considering the life and death decisions associated with a cancer diagnosis, there is no substitute for personal research and education regarding the specifics of your condition. Knowledge is empowering and is something that should not be feared. If you are a victim of cancer, you do not have to be a pawn of the conventional medical system. Very effective alternative cancer treatments that are based on a holistic approach towards wellness are readily available. However, these are not likely to be encouraged by the purveyors of mainstream cancer care.
I highly encourage every person who has been given a cancer diagnosis to get both sides to the story, so to speak. Do your homework and dig deep for answers. They are out there and you may be surprised at what you find. Cancer patients that thoroughly educate before making treatment decisions are usually the ones that do the best job of helping their body to repair and heal itself.

FDA Poised to Approve Irradiation of Natural Supplements
Thursday, February 14th, 2008Earlier this week we discussed on this blog how various governmental and private organizations, such as the FDA and pharmaceutical companies, are seeking to suppress the availability of natural herbal remedies and medicinal plants. It appears they are after nutritional and dietary supplements as well. The FDA is on the verge of approving or even mandating irradiation of such products under the premise of protecting the public from contaminants. They are even using the term pasteurization interchangeably with irradiation in some of their documentation, probably because the public is used to this term and it will make it easier for people to accept irradiation.
Infant Deaths May Be Related to Vaccinations
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008Due to ignorance or denial on the part of the medical establishment, it is very possible that some infant deaths that are classified as shaken baby syndrome or sudden infant death syndrome may actually be caused by toxic reactions to vaccinations. The information posted below discusses many issues related to the vaccination of our children, often against parents best wishes. A link to an article that covers the technical evidence pertaining to infant fatalities as related to immunizations is also included.
Mississippi Goes Whole Hog to Fight Obesity
Tuesday, February 5th, 2008In typical governmental fashion, the State of Mississippi is seeking to fix a legitimate problem using twisted logic. They have decided one way to reduce the cost of medical bills that the state is responsible for is to penalize obese people by making it illegal to serve them in restaurants. Maybe their hearts are in the right place. They recognize that obesity makes people sicker and are attempting to discourage it. However, I could not think of an odder and less effective way to combat the problem if I tried!
One Mississippi resident that was interviewed in the article below hit the nail right on the head, intimating that people must desire to lose weight, not be legislated into it. Not to mention the ridiculous notion of turning restaurant owners into part of the government bureaucracy and expecting them to screen their patrons for obesity. Maybe a saner idea would be to offer overweight individuals an incentive to lose those extra pounds by providing resources for them to learn about healthier lifestyle choices and possibly hitting them with a Medicaid surcharge if they do not slim down. Or maybe food stamp entitlements could be restricted by disallowing the purchase of certain junky and high-fat foods. (But then that would eliminate a good portion of the items in most grocery stores, would it not?).
Perhaps this is only a publicity stunt designed to draw attention to the financial and health needs that are challenging Mississippi. However, it is a great object lesson to all of us that a lifestyle of wellness begins at home. We as parents must model and teach quality choices to our children so that the Standard American Diet can be rewritten to establish more healthful cultural norms. The government never can and never will accomplish such purposes.
Probiotic Benefits of Yogurt Challenged in Court
Monday, January 28th, 2008A private lawsuit has been filed against the yogurt maker Dannon, alleging that claims regarding some of its products and their positive effects on the intestinal tract are false and misleading. This is a complex issue to analyze because while we know that there are many health benefits that can be gained from the foods we eat, we also know that corporate interests can be deceptive by jumping on the natural health bandwagon but yet providing supposed benefits that are not in a form the body can use and absorb, or that may be formulated using ingredients that can be harmful. Dannon is an excellent example of this. Organic yogurt with live active cultures and no added sugars is an excellent natural source of probiotics. However, Dannon products are neither organic or without added sugar.
Another Attack on Natural Health Freedoms
Monday, January 14th, 2008Last week the FDA began yet another effort to eliminate the availability of natural alternatives to synthetic hormone replacement drugs. As you might expect, it appears that this response is fueled, at least in part, by complaints from Big Pharma. Once again we see the FDA favoring the interests of the corporate pharmaceutical community over the health and welfare of Americans, even thought there has been no proof that bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, when used correctly, is unsafe or harmful. In fact, if we listen to the testimonies of women about symptom relief, just the opposite seems to be true.
Health Care Choices: Confusion by Design?
Wednesday, December 26th, 2007As we close in on the end of the year, the deadline approaches for Medicare recipients to choose a drug plan or change their existing one. The confusion surrounding this issue is a classic example of the needless complexity and shameless pandering to profit that defines the current state of health care here in the United States. Many seniors are too overwhelmed to effectively analyze their choices and make decisions that best meet their needs and budget. The irony of the whole situation is that insurance companies, supposed non-profit organizations like AARP, and the pharmaceutical industry are making obscene profits off of drugs that are steering people away from much safer and effective natural alternatives and causing them to suffer financially as well.
Ron Paul Update: Health Care Freedom at Stake
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007Presidential candidate Ron Paul is hanging tough in his battle against the established political system. He is the only one in the field that has the vision and gumption to take on issues involving our fleeting health care freedoms. As much as the press, Republicans, and Democrats would like him to just go away, he is continuing to gather support, both philosophically and financially.
More On Our Crumbling Health Care Freedoms
Monday, December 17th, 2007As a follow up to our discussion of several weeks ago about the outrageous vaccinations forced upon children in Maryland, I would like to point you towards this press release that was published by a leading national physicians association. Apparently, even some in conventional medicine are appalled by the irresponsible actions of the powers-that-be in Prince George County.
