Hi [fname]
Two sentences that I hear
repeated most at this time of year are “I am going on a diet” and “I
wish I could just feel better!” The first three months of the year
are the diet industry’s “Christmas Season”, if you will. Sales
will skyrocket as New Year’s Resolutions are put into effect. Diet
meetings will quadruple in size and several diet books will actually make the
top ten sellers list. The concern with so many of the diets that are available
is that they do not help to produce a healthy body. Yes, you may lose some
weight, but losing weight is not the only aspect to good health and well-being. Many
thin people are not healthy. Losing weight is definitely one of the first
steps toward good health, but it does not produce health in and of itself.
A healthy diet should be one that you can stay on for the rest of your life. Guess
what? That is what it will take to keep the weight off and to progress
toward better health—a commitment for life. Believe it or not but
getting the weight off is easy compared to keeping it off—thus why it
is important to choose something that you can get your body accustomed to doing
for a life time. We are talking about change; change that must last for
ever. If the diet you are considering or putting into practice is allowing
white sugar, refined white flour, hydrogenated oils, pre-packaged foods, grocery
store dairy and meat, etc. and not educating you about “how” the
body reacts to processed foods, then the diet is not a healthy diet and will
not produce optimum health. You will most likely be setting yourself up for
failure. These types of diets are addressing the symptoms of being over-weight
and tend to be a quick fix, at best.
The January 2006 issue of Advanced Health & Wellness is mostly dedicated
to cleansing
and detoxification of
the body. You can put all the healthy
food and best supplements into your body that you want, but if your digestive
tract is not clean then you will not get the whole benefit from your healthy
decisions. A clogged intestinal tract and liver/gallbladder will not
allow optimum absorption, assimilation and transportation of nutrients. These
nutrients are what allow your body to heal and repair.
It’s a new year. Start out with a total detoxification
program. It
will make you feel better, up your immune system and give you some energy. Next,
check out my e-book Optimum
Health Strategies...Doing What Works. Thru
the end of January you can get a copy for only $15.00 and download it immediately. Begin
to apply the recommendations and soon you will experience one of the greatest
feelings there is—Optimum Health & Well Being. Once you experience
this you will never want to go back to your old habits…I promise!
Enjoy your January and good luck with all of your “new beginnings!”

Vitamin
D Is For Cancer Defense |
By
Bill Sardi
From time to time
news reports surface about a "cancer cluster" among workers in
a building. Often the workers have been assigned to dark basement offices
or sealed clean-rooms where they must wear space-suitlike garb. Given a
growing body of evidence linking cancer with vitamin D deficiency, a question
surfaces:
Are indoor workers getting sufficient sunlight to make enough vitamin D
to protect them from cancer?

The
Colon Cleansing Test -- Take It Now... |
This
simple yes or no test will tell you whether or not you would benefit
from colon cleansing. Colon
health and colon problems are the most over-looked health problems in
today’s society. Due to the poor diet in America, 200 million people
suffer from constipation and do not have the required two to four bowel
movements daily.

· Asthma
relief may be as simple as eating more fruits and vegetables high
in antioxidants. Vitamin C may soothe inflammation in the lungs
as it acts as a natural antihistamine. Stock up on mandarins,
kiwi, oranges and strawberries.
· Considering
popping the “Little Blue Pill?” Blindness is
a possible and alarming side effect of Viagra. According
to a report in the March 2005 issue of the Journal of Neur-Ophthalmology,
a small number of men (seven) suffered varying degrees of vision
loss within 36 hours of taking Viagra. If you plan on taking
Viagra, visit your eye doctor first to assess your risk for an
optic nerve stroke.
· Organic
farms support 85 percent more plant species, 33 percent more
bat species and 5 percent more bird species—as well as
a 39 percent greater bird abundance than non-organic farms, according
to a study in Biology Letters.
· If
you are prone to insomnia, get your sweetie to rub jojoba oil
onto the soles of your feet, then put on a pair of cozy socks
you don’t mind ruining and rest with a water bottle on
your abdomen until you fall asleep.
· At
least 30 minutes exposure daily to natural light outdoors,
in addition to using a light box indoors, helps combat seasonal
affective disorder.
· Researchers
observed a strong correlation between body mass index and elevated
levels of beta-amyloid, the sticky protein substance that builds
up in the Alzheimer's brain and plays a major role in destroying
nerve cells and cognitive behavioral problems associated with
the disease.
· The
FDA proposed lowering the levels of lead in candy from 0.5
parts per million to 0.1 ppm for products likely to be consumed
by children. Although levels are low, the presence of any lead
is scary, as lead poisoning can lead to behavioral and learning
problems in children and even seizures or death.
· An
international group of bird conservationists believes the practice
of fish farms using chicken feces for food --
routine in Asia -- may be responsible for the spread of the
avian flu. According
to an
excellent piece in The Independent,
using chicken feces is common in integrated livestock-fish
farming, which also involves the transfer of pig and duck waste directly to
fish farms.
· An
interesting website, The
Truth About Splenda, began posting
consumer comments about Splenda, ranging from deceptive advertising
and marketing practices to the dire health consequences associated
with consuming what amounts to a chlorinated artificial
sweetener. Be
sure to check out the Fact vs. Fiction page.
· Acute
liver failure is one of the more health-harming side effects
of acetaminophen. Interestingly, incidents of acute liver failure
caused by this over-the-counter (OTC) painkiller, according
to a new study, are evenly split between attempted suicide
and unintentional overdose. Experts believe acetaminophen causes
its damage by depleting your body of glutathione. If you keep
your glutathione levels up, the damage from acetaminophen may
be largely preventable. Even conventional medicine recognizes
this, as anyone who overdoses on it receives large doses of
N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) in the emergency room.
· A
diet high in red and processed meats increases pancreatic cancer
risk, according to researchers at the University of Hawaii
and University of Southern California. The scientists found
that individuals who consumed the most processed meat had a
nearly 70% higher risk of pancreatic cancer compared to those
with the lowest intake. Similarly, those who consumed the most
pork and total red meat had a 50% greater risk of pancreatic
cancer than their cohorts with the lowest intake.
· A
recent study published in the journal Clinical Cancer Research
found that curcumin, a substance in the spice turmeric, prevents
breast cancer from spreading to the lungs of mice given the
compound.
