Welcome To The Town Of Allopath
It's August---probably the hottest month of the year here in Southeast Texas. Many are now harvesting the wonderful vegetables and fruits from their gardens; if you travel very far you will be sure to see farmers set up on the side of the road with beautiful produce to sell. This is a wonderful time of the year to feast on cold salads, cold watermelon, cantaloupe and cold, fresh lemonade. The lazy days of summer will soon be over, so enjoy the days that are left while experiencing the healthy produce.
Believe it or not, about 95% of the population are infected with parasites. In Parasites - The Hidden Health Menace you will learn about the absolute necessity in keeping the intestinal system clean for healthy and disease-free living. We recommend that everyone perform at least two cleanses yearly with Para-Buster. Now is also the time to begin preparing for the up-coming flu season and I don't mean with a vaccination. Completing a Fall digestive tract cleanse is essential along with healthy eating, exercise and supplementation. We also recommend our Germ Fighter Spray to carry in the car or purse in order to be able to clean the hands and air quickly and safely. It is also a great time to stock up on items such as Quantum Silver, Oregano Oil, and Ultra Absorbic C.
We have had many ask if the Optimum Health Strategies...Doing What Works E-Book is specifically for people with cancer. The answer is no. The product page on the OAW web site discusses cancer in the beginning because right now one in two Americans will develop cancer in their life time. You do not have to be a statistic and the best way not to become a statistic is to take control of your health, now. This E-Book is a whole-body approach to getting the body healthy through detoxification, diet and supplementation, exercise, clean water and air and stress elimination. It is a wealth of information with recommendations that we give to our clients here at Oasis Advanced Wellness. | Parasites - The Hidden Health Menace |
Robert M. Hartung, Parasitologist
Parasites are here and are considerably more prevalent than we care to admit. However, because of the unsavory nature of the topic, they rarely become the subject of conversation over lunch, that is, unless you're a parasitologist; then you might spend a portion of the time really checking out the tuna salad sandwich you ordered. You see, refined folks just don't talk about that sort of thing. For the most part, it appears that many of us living in comparative affluence here to North America are under the illusion that the menace of parasitic diseases is of little consequence and significance in such a sophisticated and medically alert society- it's a problem restricted to "third world countries," whatever they are. Hence, there are few willing to entertain the idea that the potential source of their chronic discomfort could be the existence of a successfully thriving community of parasites living within. Even if we assume the ridiculous posture that everyone in North America is free of parasites, we would have to face the fact sooner or later we are economically tied to those areas of the world where the populace is not so squeamish in discussing their parasitic burdens.
Over half of the growable land in the world cannot be agriculturally developed because of the presence of four parasitic diseases: onchocercaiasis, tryponosomiasis, schistosomiasis, and malaria. A very significant portion of the world's starving masses could be fed if but one of these diseases were brought under control. The loss of manpower coupled with the costs associated with feeding these sufferers have crippled the economy of many a tropical and subtropical country. It is estimated that one third of all adult deaths occurring in Brazil are a result of Chagas disease, one of the many forms of trypanosomiasis. A recent newspaper article declared that there are presently 65,000 people dying from this dreaded disease to Honduras.
How can we say parasites do not affect us? Our national conscience cannot tolerate the idea of people starving when we have so much; yet when we provide humanitarian aid - what this country is most noted for - we do little to address the root cause of the problem. We must remember that self-sufficiency and dignity are not the products of a dole, and to aid a country monetarily without tackling the root cause of the problem does little to really help our neighbors. Charity is wholesome and often does more for the giver than the receiver; however, when the cause of poverty, pain, and suffering is focused on and eradicated, the beneficiary is doubly blessed. Therefore, we have to face the fact that we are inextricably involved in the parasitic affairs of the world, and we will continue to carry a large share of the burden for some time to come.
Let's get right down to the issue. Are we really excluded from the problems parasites cause elsewhere? Not in the least? Each of us is constantly being attacked by one kind of parasite or another. Let it be known all viruses are parasites. But even excluding the viruses, there is still a plethora of parasites that will make our lives difficult. These range from the one celled organisms, called protozoans, to the wildly diverse group of worms, and of course, let's not forget the fungi (e.g. Candida). The effects they have on us, their hosts, are as varied as they are. They range from mild gastrointestinal discomfort with little lasting effect to severe disease states, where morbidity and/or death are the anticipated outcome -- sadly, for many, relief only comes in the form of death. Parasites cause blockages in the intestine, severe tissue inflammation, asthmatic symptoms, congestive heart failure, impaired vision, skin eruptions, malaise, severe depression, loss of energy, anemia, etc.
People have lost eyes because the larva (known as a sparganum) of the worm Diphyllobothrium latum was misdiagnosed as cancer. This same organism in its adult form as a tapeworm can cause a deficiency of vitamin B-12 in its human host, resulting in a pernicious anemia. For those of us whose taste buds prefer the more exotic cuisine like sushi, sashimi, and ceviche (all of which are uncooked fish dishes), we run the risk of consuming a little roundworm, called Anisakis. This little critter has sent countless Japanese, doubled over in pain, to their local physician, with what our doctors might diagnose as simple gastric ulcers. Anisakis, after being ingested by an unwary consumer, attacks the stomach wall with a vengeance, causing a lesion approximately two inches in diameter. Most of our physicians are not adept at ferreting out some of these parasitic diseases; their experience and education, though extensive, were never adequate along these lines. Most of them only covered the topic of parasites while taking microbiology in college, and that was the end of it. They are not to be faulted; after all, sophisticated societies don't have parasites, right?
Pinworms should be a concern to all parents. When a child is antsy, when they prefer standing and running around, disrupting the class instead of sitting quietly and paying attention, then that child must have ADD (attention deficit disorder). Tell me if your behind was itchy and irritated and you didn't know how to describe your discomfort, might the real cause of the agitation be overlooked and a drug be prescribed to calm the child instead of killing the parasite? Our grandparents used to administer a dose of worm medicine to their children a couple of times a year. What makes us think the problem has disappeared?
Pets are a constant source of joy and companionship to their owners, and I would never suggest that a person get rid of their treasure because of parasites. However, I do believe we become a little foolish when it comes to these animals. Roundworms, tapeworms, and protozoa's can be easily transmitted to those in close contact with cats, dogs and other pets.
Not long ago, I had the distinct privilege of discovering in my own stool a proglottid from a tapeworm. Proglottids are segments of the tapeworm's body. I did something most of you wouldn't do; I fished it out. When I placed it on a microscope slide, I discovered something even more puzzling. This proglottid was from a tapeworm that is usually a parasite of dogs and is called Dipylidium caninum. The fact that I do not have a dog only added to my curiosity. This tapeworm lives a contented life in the intestine of the dog and the proglottids that are full of eggs are flushed out the dog's anus with the feces. Some of these very minute eggs get attached to the skin around the anus.
Fleas in their larval stage do not drink blood as adult fleas do; instead they eat skin cells, and other things they can find on the dog or in the soil. Sometimes they eat tapeworm eggs. In the larval fleas stomach the egg hatches releasing the larval tapeworm. In order for the dog to acquire the tapeworm it has to eat a flea carrying the larval tapeworm.
You already know where this is going, don't you? In order for me to have acquired this worm, I had to have eaten a flea that in the larval stage of its life cycle had to have fed around a dog's anus and eaten a tapeworm egg. (I'm still looking for the dog!)
I was convinced that parasitologists do not get parasites. I, like you, was certain that parasites were something others had to contend with, not me. Well, if I can have them, then you can' too and probably do, since it is estimated that up to 85% of the population of North America has at least one type of parasite. Whether they are contributing to ill health or not depends on a number of things: the overall strength of the immune system, the severity of the infection, the type of parasite and its location, and a whole host of other factors. There are, however, natural solutions to these health menaces that are time tested (over 600 years old) herbal remedies that effectively eliminate parasites from wherever they are found in the body. Some of these include ozone, oxygen, black walnut, wormwood, high dose probiotics, citrus seed extract, Artemsia Annua, Artemisia Absinthium (these are forms of Wormwood), pumpkin seeds, aloe vera, grapefruit seed extract, and dietary changes such as eliminating all forms of sugar including fruits, alcohol, caffeine, and milk. Note- Do not use treatments if you are pregnant!
A final suggestion-Keep an eye open. Don't be afraid to look in the toilet and discover a companion. It's presence might contribute to understanding your lack of energy, mood swings, overall appearance, malaise, etc., etc., etc., etc. And remember, never let your pet kiss you on the face again -- you know where that tongue has been!

Are Our Products Our Enemy?
By Elizabeth Weise
Like the glint of a knife in the dark, a laboratory accident in 1998 helped scientists realize that some chemicals commonly used to make life more convenient can be health hazards.
Since what they still call "the disaster" in geneticist Pat Hunt's lab, more scientists have come to suspect that, even in tiny amounts, some of the chemicals that keep our food fresh, our hair stylish, our floors shiny and our fabrics stain-free might be confusing our hormone systems and derailing fetal development.
Hunt says she's not the only researcher who has come to study these chemicals — called endocrine disrupters— because she got "smacked in the face" by an unexpected result. "Almost everybody in this field was drafted into this, but we feel we can't leave this area, because if this stuff is dangerous, then we need to know a whole lot more about it."
Here's what happened seven years ago at Hunt's lab at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland:
While researching why women miscarry because of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus, Hunt found that the eggs of the mice she was studying were inexplicably developing serious chromosomal problems.
It took months for Hunt to realize that the problem was caused by a temporary employee's error. "He had two bottles of detergent, one for the floor and one for the cages, and he picked up the wrong one."
The harsh alkaline floor detergent caused the plastic in the cages to begin to disintegrate, which leached a chemical called bisphenol A into the animals' food and water. Suddenly, 40% of the eggs had chromosomal abnormalities.
The question this posed for scientists: If plastic can do this to mice, what dangers do people face?
Out of sight
You can't see them. There's no way to tell from a product label whether they've been used. And they don't appear in every variation of the same kind of product. Scientists are not always sure how they are transmitted from product to person.
These man-made chemicals are endocrine mimics. By sheer chance, their molecules are perfectly shaped to form keys that open the hormonal locks that control the proper development and function of our bodies.
They may do little harm to adults, but evidence mounts that they can wreak havoc in the development of fetuses and children:
• Ana Soto, a professor of cell biology at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, found that exposure to bisphenol A, a common ingredient in plastics such as reusable water bottles and the housing of laptop computers and in resins that line some food cans and dental sealants, can change the course of fetal development. Fetal mice developed tissue associated with higher rates of breast cancer later in life. Soto's findings were presented in San Diego this summer at the yearly meeting of the Endocrine Society, the largest professional organization of endocrinologists.
• Exposure to phthalates (pronounced THAL-ates) comes from direct contact with products that contain them, such as vinyl flooring, detergents, automotive plastics, soap, shampoo, deodorants, fragrances, hair spray, nail polish, plastic bags, food packaging, garden hoses, inflatable toys, blood-storage bags and intravenous medical tubing, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Research published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives by epidemiologist Shanna Swan at the University of Rochester in New York found an association between higher phthalate levels in pregnant women and changes in the genitals in their infant sons that suggest lower concentrations of male hormones and can lead to incomplete testicular descent.
Jim Pirkle, deputy director for science at the CDC's Environmental Health Laboratory, says that while more research must be done to replicate Swan's findings, "The big concern of the phthalates is that they have anti-androgen activity. They get rid of things that are in the testosterone line, the things that make a man a man."
• In a separate study, Harvard and CDC researchers found that boys in neonatal intensive care units had phthalate levels about 25 times higher than the general population. This is two years after the Food and Drug Administration warned hospitals that phthalate leaching out of plastics used in medical devices carries such a health risk to baby boys that those devices shouldn't be used on babies or on pregnant women carrying male fetuses.
• Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is a building block of chemicals used to make stain-, grease- and water-resistant coatings such as Teflon and Gore-Tex. An Environmental Protection Agency scientific advisory panel recently concluded PFOA is a likely carcinogen with liver, breast, pancreatic and testicular cancer of specific concern. The EPA has not yet adopted the finding and has not set acceptable limits.
• A study released last month by the U.S. Geological Survey and the City of Austin found that runoff from parking lot sealant, used to protect and beautify asphalt, is a source of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons known to be a likely carcinogen and a possible reproductive toxicant.
• Research published by Michael Skinner, director of the Center for Reproductive Biology at Washington State University, showed that exposure of rodents to an insecticide called methoxychlor and a fungicide called vinclozolin, both endocrine disrupters, caused changes in mice that affected not just the offspring exposed to the chemical in utero but all males born for at least four subsequent generations.
"If an environmental toxin can cause a transgenerational effect and affect your grandchild, this is a much more major hazard we need to consider in environmental toxins," Skinner says.
Trace amounts widespread
Although these chemicals have been widely used since the 1960s, it has been only in the past five or so years that scientists have had tests sensitive enough to measure the extremely low doses present in the environment and our bodies. And they have found that phthalates and PFOA are ubiquitous.
In random sampling of participants in a national health survey, the CDC has found trace amounts of phthalates in all urine tested. In January, the Environmental Protection Agency reported that adults tested in three human biomonitoring studies had trace amounts of PFOA in their bloodstream.
"Certainly, we're concerned about what's happening to adults, but we're especially concerned about developmental exposure of the fetus and young child," Retha Newbold, a developmental endocrinologist at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, told the Endocrine Society.
"Protective mechanisms that are available to the adult, such as DNA repair, the immune system, detoxification enzymes, liver metabolism and the blood/brain barrier, are not fully functional in the fetus or newborn," Newbold says. "Exposures to endocrine-disrupting chemicals during critical states of development may have permanent consequences, some of which may not be expressed or detected until later in life."
But chemical producers say researchers aren't coming up with "smoking guns," in the words of Sarah Brozena, assistant general counsel to the American Chemistry Council, an industry group. "The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry did this pretty comprehensive review and decided there was no evidence of humans being adversely impacted by environmental exposures to endocrine-active substances," she says.
The past three years have seen significant advances in "epidemiological evidence and the development of animal models" to help understand how endocrine disrupters work, says Kenneth Korach, director of the Environmental Disease and Medicine Program at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
The means of exposure to endocrine disrupters can be difficult to determine. "It's not like smoking was," says Swan, who did the phthalates research. "They're all around us, in food, in household dust and in products, but they're invisible.
"People don't know when they're exposed. Our old epidemiological tools — interviews, looking at medical records and questionnaires — are useless. We have to look at the body. But it's expensive and hard to get people to give blood."
And if figuring out what a tiny amount of one chemical does is hard, researchers say they have almost no idea what happens when many chemicals interact. "Nobody's exposed to one thing," Korach says. "The problem is we haven't done enough yet to look at combinations."
The big picture
Of course, each of these studies is only one small piece in a much larger puzzle that still must be filled out, says Earl Gray, a senior research biologist with EPA's endocrinology branch. "There are things that we know for sure," he says. "It's obvious and has been for a long time that there are effects in wildlife due to endocrine-disrupting chemicals."
In humans, the evidence isn't clear-cut: "A single study doesn't create a disaster; it's a hypothesis that needs to be replicated."
Others wonder why compounds are turning up harmful in some studies, while "every test we've ever done in the past says they're inactive," says James Lamb of scientific and engineering consulting firm Blasland, Bouck & Lee Inc.
"These things raise questions that need to be addressed by industry and government," Lamb says. "I'd hate for people to come away feeling like they're in danger if they use these products."
Environmental groups and researchers maintain that it's possible to have modern conveniences without all the health risks.
They note that the government has been able to eradicate other chemical dangers. "We've seen lead levels dramatically decline in kids, PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) levels decline, all because of direct government intervention that gets these out of the environment," says Jane Houlihan, a scientist with the Environmental Working Group.
The EPA says it's working on that.
The agency's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics has been exploring "green chemistry" options — a fundamental approach to pollution prevention on a molecular level — for 10 years now.
If the chemicals that make plastics soft are endocrine disrupters, chemists now have the ability to design them without that side effect. It just takes convincing industry that the result is going to be cheaper in the long run, says Mary Ellen Weber, director of the EPA's pollutions and toxics research group. "When you can replace a known toxic chemical with sugar or cornstarch or sunlight, you know you've got an environmentally preferable product."
20 Ways To Reduce Blood Pressure Naturally
Lee Cummings
Do You know someone who suffers from high blood pressure? Maybe You? Then this is good news! Are you aware that there are simple and inexpensive ways to control blood pressure with food and supplements you already have in your kitchen? Intelligent health conscious people like You can naturally understand these strategies to help maintain lower blood pressure levels. Because when you understand and follow through with these steps, you will feel more energy and enjoy the benefits of lower blood pressure. In my 10 years of studying nutrition and over 5 years of helping others solve their health problems, I have found that the experts agree that these steps are some of the most effective in lowering blood pressure naturally.
CoQ10 supplements – CoEnzyme Q10 or CoQ10 For short is a powerful anti-oxidant which is in every cell in your body. Your body uses CoQ10 to derive Energy.
In a double-blind placebo controlled study published in The Journal of Human Hypertension, The group which took CoQ10 for just 8 weeks showed a significant reduction of blood pressure. Also in a University of Texas study, people taking oral CoQ10 after just one month experienced significant lowering of blood pressure and 51% of participants were able to discontinue blood pressure medication. As a side note, blood pressure medication prevents the body from not only manufacturing its own CoQ10, but also your body’s ability to absorb CoQ10. recommended dose: 100-200 mg gel caps each day to help lower blood pressure.
Vitamins, Herbs and Anti-oxidants
The following are Doctor recommended daily amounts.
Vitamin C - 1000 mg
Garlic - 2 cloves
Hawthorn berry - 500 mg
Omega 3 fatty acid fish oil Gel caps - 1000 mg
Vitamin b6 in a natural multivitamin
Magnesium - 500 mg
Astragalus root 500mg
Food Sources:
In a Greek study that examined the effects of the Mediterranean diet on 20,000 people proved that olive Oil, Fruits and Vegetables were significantly associated with lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Celery - 4 sticks a day, relaxes the smooth muscles in the blood vessels. Fresh cold water fish which is high in Omega-3 fatty Acids.
Salt - let’s understand the real reason why salt is important to your blood pressure.
We’ve all heard that you need to cut down on sodium in your diet, although this is not bad advice, it misses the point. High sodium intake alone does not increase blood pressure, it is an excess of sodium to potassium ratio. The ideal ratio is five times as much potassium as sodium in Your diet. You’ll get the best results by eating three servings A day of potassium rich foods such as:
Bananas – 1 large
Avocados – 1 cup
Beans – ½ cup
Squash – 1 cup
Tomatoes – ½ cup
Low levels of magnesium can also contribute to high Blood pressure, so here are some Magnesium rich foods:
Almonds – 1/3 cup
Tofu – ½ cup
Cashews – 1 cup
Raisin bran – 1/3 cup
And finally lets talk about what level of blood pressure is considered high. Right now the threshold pushed by mainstream medicine is 115/75 – 120/80 which WAS considered borderline LOW just 5 years ago.
This is because the standard for “high” blood pressure, just like the standard for cholesterol is repeatedly lowered to put more people on medication. Your individual risk factors and age play a big role in determining what is a good blood pressure level for YOU.
So don’t just accept a one size fits all number when it comes to your blood pressure. Ask questions and discuss your health with a nutritionally educated Doctor to find what is best for you.
So what about YOU? Are You going to let the silent killer Sneak up on you? Or are You going to take action that will make this highly unlikely? When You safe-guard Yourself with these proven techniques which You can easily incorporate into your life, then You will reap the healthy benefits. Used in combination these natural, safe and proven techniques work wonders to keep your blood pressure down and allow you to experience a higher level of health without the unwanted side effects. So take action now and get started today to do one thing from each of the three points above. Each day incorporate the food and supplements listed and You are well on Your way to lower blood pressure. These are proven, safe and inexpensive steps so You can enjoy the benefits now.

Cinnamon For Diabetes Type 2
Several compounds isolated from cinnamon may one day become the key natural ingredients in a new generation of products aimed at lowering blood sugar levels. Agricultural Research Service scientists extracted the complexes from cinnamon bark.
In test tube assays, the compounds, called polyphenolic polymers, increased sugar metabolism in fat cells twenty fold. Millions of people have impaired sugar and fat metabolism, which can lead to Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
ARS chemist Richard A. Anderson and colleagues at the Beltsville (Md.) Human Nutrition Research Center (BHNCR) and two universities conducted the research. The findings were published this year in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. ARS is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief scientific research agency.
The extracted compounds increase insulin sensitivity by activating key enzymes that stimulate insulin receptors, while inhibiting enzymes that deactivate the receptors. The compounds also have antioxidant effects, which may provide synergistic benefits to people with various forms of diabetes.
Last year, the researchers reported that less than a half-teaspoon of cinnamon daily for 40 days reduced by about 20 percent the blood sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride levels of 60 volunteers in Pakistan with Type 2 diabetes. But table cinnamon made from cinnamon bark contains fat-soluble compounds. Those compounds may accumulate in the body if ingested consistently as more than a spice over long periods of time.
The newly defined, water-soluble compounds can be separated from nearly all the fat-soluble, potentially toxic components found in cinnamon bark, according to Anderson. He is with the BHNRC's Nutrient Requirements and Functions Laboratory in Beltsville.
Flu Could Infect Half World's People In Year
WHO In Talks To Stockpile Antiviral
Drugs In Case Of Global Outbreak
An outbreak of flu in rural south-east Asia could spread around the globe in three months and infect half the world's population within a year, unless strict measures to contain it are introduced, scientists said yesterday.
The warning comes from researchers who used computer models to investigate what would happen if the avian flu virus, which is currently rife among poultry in areas of China, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam, mutated into a form that spread easily among humans.
Scientists believe it is only a matter of time before the virus, known as H5N1, mutates to become more infectious to humans, possibly by swapping genes with the human flu virus.
"This is the event we're all scared might happen at any time," said Neil Ferguson of Imperial College London and the leading author of the study. "We'd be faced with an event worse than the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic."
The avian flu virus has killed more than 50 people in Asia, more than half of those who have been infected. Almost every death was traced back to the person coming into contact with infected poultry in the countryside. The Spanish pandemic of 1918 is believed to have claimed up to 40 million lives worldwide.
Professor Ferguson's team modeled the spread of a mutated avian flu virus among 85 million people living in Thailand and a strip of neighboring countries. After watching how quickly the virus spread around the globe, they tested various strategies for containing an outbreak. "Until now, the idea of stopping an outbreak hadn't been investigated," he said.
If an outbreak was detected in its infancy, with less than 50 people infected, models show it could be contained by administering antiviral drugs to the 20,000 people closest to those infected, the researchers report in the journal Nature today. Combined with other measures, such as shutting schools and workplaces, it would take around 60 days to contain the outbreak, with the number of cases totaling no more than around 200.
To deal with the worst case scenario of an avian flu outbreak, the scientists called for an international stockpile of 3m courses of antiviral drugs to be set up, ready to be deployed anywhere in the world within a few days of an outbreak being detected.
A spokeswoman for Roche, which manufactures the antiviral drug Tamiflu, confirmed that the company is in talks with the World Health Organization about building a stockpile of the drug, but refused to give further details. The WHO already has 120,000 courses of Tamiflu, but with Britain and France each waiting for orders of 15m courses from Roche, the company will have to decide which takes priority.
Prof Ferguson's research is reported alongside a second study published online today by the US journal Science, which modeled an outbreak of flu among half a million people living in Thailand.
Ira Longini and his team at Emory University in Atlanta also found that antiviral drugs could be used to contain an outbreak by giving them to healthy people closest to those infected. Flu vaccines, even relatively poor ones, would also help quash a nascent outbreak, he said.
According to Professor Longini's model, 100,000 courses of Tamiflu would be enough to prevent a flu outbreak becoming a pandemic as long as the virus had a "reproductive number" - the average number of people each infected person goes on to infect - of no more than 1.6. Measles, one of the most infectious diseases has a reproductive number of around 15. Typically, each person infected with flu infects two others.
Prof Longini said the creation of an international stockpile of drugs should take precedence over orders from individual countries. "The WHO should get priority ... and the richer nations should chip in, because it's in their interests to stop it before it reaches their shores," he said.
Creation of the stockpile is just the first hurdle. The WHO, in conjunction with the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, will have to tread carefully with governments to ensure the policies are adopted and that outbreaks are spotted quickly enough.
A scientist close to the program said: "The big issue is surveillance. If these models are right, and there may be problems with them, the outcome depends on getting an early warning of an outbreak."

FDA & CDC Smear Respected Independent Scientists & Researchers
By Evelyn Pringle
August 3, 2005—In their public statements, officials within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), are always claiming that researchers and scientists who conduct studies not funded by drug companies or the government are making unfounded claims about a link between thimerosal-laced vaccines and autism, and other neurological disorders, which they claim could lead to reduced vaccine coverage, resulting in preventable outbreaks of disease affecting the entire planet.
I say cut the crap.
Think about it. Why would so many highly respected scientists, researchers and physicians go to such great lengths to concoct bogus studies and issue false reports, in essence putting their professional reputations on the line, if their was no connection? I want these officials to do two things. First I want them to give me one good reason why these professionals would make this up, and two, I want them to give me one logical alternative theory for the current epidemic of disorders.
Lets look at a few of these experts.
Dr. Jeffrey Bradstreet, is a practicing physician who treats children with autism and other brain-damage disorders. While in the Air Force, he was trained in toxicology and environmental health. His duties as an officer included the responsibility for military personnel who had exposure to a wide variety of toxins, including mercury.
Dr. Bradstreet has evaluated well over 2,000 children with neurological disorders. He also directs a school for children with neurodevelopmental disorders where his responsibilities include supervising occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, and applied behavioral analysts.
Dr. Bradstreet is a Harvard Certified Medical Education Instructor in autism and has written three peer reviewed papers regarding the relationship of thimerosal, developmental disorders and biological markers for mercury-susceptibility.
In addition, he has conducted research regarding these disorders and has worked with some of the most highly respected professionals in the country, including Dr. Jane El-Dahr of the Tulane University Medical Center; Dr. V.K. Singh of the Utah State University Biotechnology Center; the University of Michigan Department of Pharmacology; Dr. Vas Aposhian of the University of Arizona; Dr. Anne Connolly of the Washington University Hospital; Dr. Walter Spitzer of McGill University; the Department of Pediatrics at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; Dr. Jim Adams of the University of Arizona; and Dr. Jill James, a former FDA researcher, now with the University of Arkansas, Department of Pediatrics.
Apparently the FDA, CDC, and vaccine makers expect us to believe that this long line of highly respected professionals from universities all over the country somehow got together and conspired to conduct fraudulent research for decades and then authored thousands of false reports and other papers.
I do not buy it. What would be the payoff?
Dr. Mark Geier is a medical doctor who holds a Ph.D in genetics and is board-certified in medical genetics and forensic medicine. He was a researcher at the National Institutes of Health for 10 years and was previously a professor at Johns Hopkins University. He has studied vaccines for more than 30 years and has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers on vaccine safety, efficacy, contamination and policy.
He was instrumental in convincing officials to switch from the whole-cell Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTP) vaccine to the safer version (DTaP). In fact, he wrote the article, “The True Story of Pertussis Vaccination: A Sordid Legacy?” which, in 2002, won the first annual Stanley W. Jackson award for the best paper published in the Journal of the History of Medicine and Allied Sciences during the period of 2000 to 2002.
Dr. Geier has made several presentations to the Institute of Medicine on the adverse effects of vaccines including one on thimerosal in 2004. He and his son, David Geier, are the only independent researchers who have ever been permitted to study the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) database of the CDC.

USA Today Acknowledges Obesity Problem - Officials Ignore The Solution
Shane Ellison
On June 27, 2005, USA Today sounded the obesity alarm. Requiring larger belt sizes costs Americans about .5 billion per year. This equates to the amount of money needed to fund 730,000 more public school teachers or to simply pay current teachers what they deserve. Instead, obese consumers blindly give it to drug companies in an attempt to treat (mask) the deadly symptoms of being overweight – that being diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Masking symptoms is suicide in slow motion.
U.S. health officials could reverse the death sentence and the exorbitant spending overnight by educating consumers on the cause of obesity – sugar. Instead, they mandate the socially accepted habit of prescription drug addiction for obese and misinformed Americans. Don’t be a lamb. Re-think your use (and your child’s use) of sugar.
The term sugar refers to sucrose, glucose, high-fructose corn syrup and milk sugars such as lactose and maltose. Unlike natural sugars consumed via whole fruits, these quickly absorbed flavors are forging an emotional addiction between you and them. The strength of the sugar addiction is akin to that seen with heroin and morphine.[1] It makes you feel good artificially. It is no wonder that street heroin is often laced with sugar (sucrose).[2] Food and soda companies profit immensely from this dependence. And drug companies too, thanks to the negative consequence of “artificial feel good.”
Once the addiction sets in, sugar consumption increases exponentially along with fat gain. This is no coincidence or statistical association. It’s the reason. Sugar is the cog in your metabolic wheel. Rather than burn (via thermogenesis) excess calories consumed, the dysfunctional metabolism tells your brain to eat, eat, eat and your body to store, store, store. Don’t believe me? Find an obese person and challenge them to avoid sugars for a single day. It won’t happen.
Over time, sugar-induced fat gain leads to the aforementioned “sugar eating illnesses” like diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Despite its alarming consequence to wealth and health, officials ignore and even work to silence the sugar threat. Some ghastly examples exist.
In a PBS health documentary entitled Seven Steps to Perfect Health, Gary Null and Associates (GNA) announced that sugar is an unhealthy component of the modern American diet. General Counsel for the Sugar Association quickly moved to censor GNA. Seven Steps was removed from certain public television stations, such as WETA in Washington, D.C. The public remained ignorant of the growing health threat due to sugar addiction.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently announced that sugar is the number one contributing factor to obesity. Furious over the claim made by the WHO, the sugar industry threatened to “challenge” the 0 million funding given to the WHO by the United States for making this “dubious” claim. Reacting to the financial threat, the WHO remained silent on the dangers of sugar. The world remained ignorant of the growing health threat due to sugar addiction.
That same 0 million from the sugar industry appears to have silenced the self-proclaimed watchdog of U.S. health, the Center for Disease Control (CDC). To substantiate, on June 2, 2005, Dr. Gerberding of the CDC gave a telebriefing regarding the mass weight gain among U.S. children and adults. In his briefing, entitled Overweight and Obesity: Clearing the Confusion, he doesn’t make a single mention of sugar or its effect on fat gain. Instead, in “clearing the confusion” he asserts that the science of fat loss is inconclusive. This is not the conclusion you would expect from a scientist of the CDC. It is scary to think what ideas the “doctor” would have mustered up without all those years of higher education. The obese will continue to remain ignorant of the growing health threat due to sugar addiction.
Don’t count on the American Heart Association (AHA) to sound the alarm. Perform a quick search for “sugar” at www.americanheart.org and you get their special recipe for Sugar-Dusted Mocha Brownies. Those at risk for heart disease will remain ignorant of the growing health threat due to sugar addiction.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has exercised a perverse display of power. A chief ADA researcher claimed, “Sugar has nothing to do with diabetes.” This statement was based on wealth not health. Prior to the statement, the ADA formed a three-year, multi-million dollar alliance with Cadbury Schweppes America’s Beverage - a major manufacturer of sugary sodas and candies.[3] Diabetics will remain ignorant of the growing health threat due to sugar addiction.
Diabetics and people worldwide don’t be fooled; avoid sugar at all costs – break the sugar addiction. Doing so will normalize blood glucose levels. Anita Manning, writing for USA Today on June 14 reported, "Early, intensive treatment to keep blood sugar levels close to normal in people with diabetes can cut their risk of cardiovascular disease by about 50% and the risk of heart attack and stroke by 57%, much better results than those achieved by any cholesterol or blood pressure drug, researchers reported Sunday." Imagine what quitting sugar would do for longevity among those who are not diabetic.
To avoid prescription drug servitude and illness, tackle the obesity problem by breaking the sugar addiction. Doing so may be the most inexpensive and valuable step toward living healthy. No, let me rephrase that: “Doing so is the best damn thing you could do for your finances and health.”
Breaking an addiction dictates that you have a replacement. Only a few acceptable alternatives to sugar exist. They are stevia, xylitol or agave. High-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, acesulfame-K, sucralose (Splenda™), monosodium glutamate (MSG), and hydrolyzed vegetable proteins do not count. Read the fine print on food labels and discard products with these ingredients. Stop lapping up sodas, fruit juice and ice cream cones and trash the “low-carb” sugar-ladened nutrition bar. In other words, think before you eat.
Once the sugar addiction is broken over a long period of time, plan on looking and feeling 5-10 years younger. The death threat and expensive medical bills due to obesity will vanish. Corporate drug pushers will be forced to take huge pay cuts.

Welcome To The Town Of Allopath
There once was a town called Allopath. It had many people, streets and cars, but due to budget limitations, there were no stop signs or traffic lights anywhere in Allopath.
Not surprisingly, traffic accidents were common. Cars would crash into each other at nearly every intersection. But business was booming for the auto repair shops and local hospitals, which dominated the economy of Allopath.
As the population of Allopath grew, traffic accidents increased to an alarming level. Out of desperation, the city council hired Doctor West, a doctor of the Motor Division (M.D.) to find a solution.
Dr. West spent days examining traffic accidents. He carried an assortment of technical gear -- microscopes, chemical analysis equipment, lab gear -- and put them all to work as part of his investigation. The townspeople of Allopath watched on with great curiosity while Dr. West went about his work, meticulously documenting and analyzing each traffic accident, and they awaited his final report with great interest.
After weeks of investigation, Dr. West called the people of Allopath to a town meeting for the release of his report. There, in front of the city council and most of the residents of Allopath, he announced his findings: "Traffic accidents are caused by skid marks."
As Dr. West explained, he found and documented a near-100% correlation between traffic accidents and skid marks. "Wherever we find these cars colliding," he explained, "we also find these skid marks."
The town had "Skid Marks Disease," the doctor explained, and the answer to the town's epidemic of traffic accidents would, "...require nothing more than treating Skid Marks Disease by making the streets skid-proof," Dr. West exclaimed, to great applause from the townspeople.
The city paid Dr. West his consulting fee, then asked the good doctor to propose a method for treating this Skid Marks Disease. As chance would have it, Dr. West had recently been on a trip to Hawaii paid for by a chemical company that manufactured roadaceuticals: special chemicals used to treat roads for situations just like this one. He recommended a particular chemical coating to the city council: teflon.
"We can treat this Skid Marks Disease by coating the roads with teflon," Dr. West explained. "The streets will then be skid-proof, and all the traffic accidents will cease!" He went on to describe the physical properties of teflon and how its near-frictionless coating would deter nearly all vehicle skids.
The city council heartily agreed with Dr. West, and they issued new public bonds to raise the money required to buy enough teflon to coat all the city's streets. Within weeks, the streets were completely coated, and the skid marks all but disappeared.
The city council paid Dr. West another consulting fee and thanked him for his expertise. The problem of traffic accidents in Allopath was solved, they thought. Although the cure was expensive, they were convinced it was worth it.
But things weren't well in Allopath. Traffic accidents quadrupled. Hospital beds were overflowing with injured residents. Auto repair businesses were booming so much that most of the city council members decided to either open their own car repair shops or invest in existing ones.
Week after week, more and more residents of Allopath were injured, and their cars were repeatedly damaged. Money piled into the pockets of the car repair shops, hospitals, tow truck companies and car parts retailers.
The town economic advisor, observing this sharp increase in economic activity, announced that Allopath was booming. Its economy was healthier than ever, and Allopath could look forward to a great year of economic prosperity!
There were jobs to be had at the car repair shops. There were more nurses needed at the hospital. "Help wanted" signs appeared all over town at the paramedic station, the tow truck shops, and the auto glass businesses. Unemployment dropped to near zero.
But the traffic accidents continued to increase. And yet there were no skid marks.
The city council was baffled. They thought they had solved this problem. Skid Marks Disease had been eradicated by the teflon treatment. Why were traffic accidents still happening?
They called a town meeting to discuss the problem, and following a short discussion of the problem, an old hermit, who lived in the forest just outside of Allopath, addressed the townspeople. "There is no such thing as Skid Marks Disease," he explained. "This disease was invented by the roadaceuticals company to sell you teflon coatings."
The townspeople were horrified to hear such a statement. They knew Skid Marks Disease existed. The doctor had told them so. How could this hermit, who had no Motor Division (M.D.) degree, dare tell them otherwise? How could he question their collective town wisdom in such a way?
"This is a simple problem," the hermit continued. "All we need to do is build stop signs and traffic lights. Then the traffic accidents will cease."
Without pause, one city council member remarked, "But how can we afford stop signs? We've spent all our money on teflon treatments!"
The townspeople agreed. They had no money to buy stop signs.
Another council member added, "And how can we stop anyway? The streets are all coated with teflon. If we build stop signs, we'll waste all the money we've spent on teflon!"
The townspeople agreed, again. What use were stop signs if they couldn't stop their cars anyway?
The hermit replied, "But the stop signs will eliminate the need for teflon. People will be able to stop their cars, and accidents will cease. The solution is simple."
But what might happen if stop signs actually worked, the townspeople wondered. How would it affect the booming economy of Allopath? Realizing the consequences, a burly old man who owned a local repair shop jumped to his feet and said, "If we build these stop signs, and traffic accidents go down, I'll have to fire most of my workers!"
It was at that moment that most of the townspeople realized there own jobs were at stake. If stop signs were built, nearly everyone would be unemployed. They all had jobs in emergency response services, car repair shops, hospitals and teflon coating maintenance. Some were now sales representatives of the roadaceuticals company. Others were importers of glass, tires, steel and other parts for cars. A few clever people were making a fortune selling wheelchairs and crutches to accident victims.
One enterprising young gentleman started a scientific journal that published research papers describing all the different kind of Skid Marks Diseases that had been observed and documented. Another person, a fitness enthusiast, organized an annual run to raise funds to find the cure for Skid Marks Disease. It was a popular event, and all the townspeople participated as best they could: jogging, walking, or just pushing themselves along in their wheelchairs.
One way or another, nearly everyone in Allopath was economically tied to Skid Marks Disease.
Out of fear of losing this economic prosperity, the townspeople voted to create a new public safety agency: the Frequent Drivers Association (FDA). This FDA would be responsible for approving or rejecting all signage, technology and chemical coatings related to the town's roads.
The FDA's board members were chosen from among the business leaders of the community: the owner of the car shop, the owner of the ambulance company, and of course, Dr. West.
Soon after its inception, the FDA announced that Skid Marks Disease was, indeed, very real, as it had been carefully documented by a doctor and recently published in the town Skid Marks Disease journal. Since there were no studies whatsoever showing stop signs to be effective for reducing traffic accidents, the FDA announced that stop signs were to be outlawed, and that any person attempting to sell stop signs would be charged with fraud and locked up in the town jail.
This pleased the townspeople of Allopath. With the FDA, they knew their jobs were safe. They could go on living their lives of economic prosperity, with secure jobs, knowing that the FDA would outlaw any attempt to take away their livelihood. They still had a lot of traffic accidents, but at least their jobs were secure.
And so life continued in Allopath. For a short while, at least. As traffic accidents continued at a devastating rate, more and more residents of Allopath were injured or killed. Many were left bed-ridden, unable to work, due to their injuries.
In time, the population dwindled. The once-booming town of Allopath eventually became little more than a ghost town. The hospital closed its doors, the FDA was disbanded, and the Skid Marks Disease journal stopped printing.
The few residents remaining eventually realized nothing good had come of Skid Marks Disease, the teflon coatings and the FDA. No one was any better off, as all the town's money had been spent on the disease: the teflon coatings, car parts and emergency services. No one was any healthier, or happier, or longer-lived. Most, in fact, had lost their entire families to Skid Marks Disease.
And the hermit? He continued to live just outside of town, at the end of a winding country road, where he lived a simple life with no cars, no roads, no teflon coatings and no FDA.
He outlived every single resident of Allopath. He gardened, took long walks through the forest, and gathered roots, leaves and berries to feed himself. In his spare time, he constructed stop signs, waiting for the next population to come along, and hoping they might listen to an old hermit with a crazy idea:
...that prevention is the answer, not the treatment of symptoms.
