· The Food and Drug Administration's Office of Nonprescription Products proposed a ban on over-the-counter sales of skin lightening products. The creams contain hydroquinone, a drug that shows some evidence of possibly causing cancer.

· According to a new report released by the Massachusetts Department of Health, the level of nicotine found in U.S. cigarettes has risen 10% in the past six years. The amount of nicotine in the popular menthol brand Kool rose 20%. Higher levels of nicotine make it harder to quit and easier to get addicted.

· Clinical trial results indicate a drug seeking federal approval meant to help women carry their babies to term does not appear to delay the earliest preterm births most often linked to death and serious health problems. Food and Drug Administration documents show Gestiva did not significantly reduced births before either 32 or 35 weeks' gestation.

· According to a new study of nearly 500,000 children in more than 50 countries, the prevalence of childhood allergies, asthma, and allergic skin conditions known as eczema has increased around the world over the last five to 10 years. The largest increases occurred in some of the most heavily populated countries that are becoming more industrialized.

· Drinking fruit and vegetable juice at least three times a week may delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Researchers from the University of South Florida found the risk for developing Alzheimer's disease was reduced by 76% for those who drank 8-ounces of fruit and vegetable juices more than three times a week.

· Long-term hostility or anger can damage lung function and speed up the natural decline in lung power that comes with age. Hostility and anger have an impact on chronic airway obstruction and can disrupt immune function and trigger inflammatory processes. The two negative traits have previously been associated with heart disease, death and asthma.

· Women who get enough vitamin E during pregnancy may help lower their child's future risk of asthma. This adds to evidence that vitamin E may aid in lung and immune system development.

· There's promising news for BREAST HEALTH. Secoisolariciresinol glucoside (SDG), abundant in flax, belongs to a class of phytochemicals called LIGNANS and is chemically similar to the breast cancer drug tamoxifen. Researchers are finding that SDG has a potent effect on estrogen levels. Postmenopausal women consuming 5 or 10 grams of milled flax over seven weeks showed significant reductions in blood concentrations of the most potent estrogen, estradiol, and its less potent sister, estrone. This may be desirable for postmenopausal women who have a high risk of breast cancer.

· Infants, especially in the United States, are routinely given a combination of 8 powerful drugs simultaneously. Each drug contains disease matter (bacteria and viruses), in addition to toxic stabilizers and preservative, such as thimerosal and formaldehyde. It would be a miracle for a child to not have a serious reaction and the fact that trained doctors and nurses administer such massive aggressive doses to little babies will be remembered in the annals of history. These doctors and nurses are compounding their crimes because they actually lie about vaccine reactions. They conspire to deceive parents about the true cause of their child's life-threatening condition. Vaccines are administered simultaneously for convenience, not safety, because medical policymakers realize that "the number of visits to a healthcare provider [for vaccines] is an impediment" to receiving all of the recommended shots.

· New research published in the journal Cancer Research has found that naturally occurring compounds found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, brussels sprouts and watercress can selectively kill cancer cells. Researchers from Otago University's Christchurch school of medicine in New Zealand found that natural chemical compounds in the vegetables called isothiocyanates can cause cell-suicide in cancer cells that are normally resistant to cell-suicide because of high levels of a certain protein called Bcl-2.

· Doctor Patrick Flanagan, named at age 17 as one of the Top 10 Scientists in America by Life Magazine, recently advised in his book ELIXIR OF THE AGELESS that: "Drinking tap water is a slow form of suicide, today's tap water is yesterday's toilet water, too thin to plow and too thick to drink. Chemicals (chlorine and fluorides) used to treat water are positive charged cationic electrolytes that are potentially destructive to the colloidal balance when ingested into the human system. As one result, people die...inch by inch, not really knowing what is wrong!"

· Fosamax lawsuits are being filed against one of the most prescribed drugs to help increase bone density. These Fosamax lawsuits claim Fosamax side effects can lead to osteonecrosis, or bone death, in the jawbone. The Fosamax lawsuits also allege Merck, the manufacturer of Fosamax, knew about the alleged risks and side effects, but withheld the information from the public. Fosamax is taken by nearly 10 million men and women. Since 2001, more than 2,400 patients taking bone building medications have reported jaw bone death. Most of these reports came from people who took potent, intravenously delivered versions of these drugs, which are known as bisphosphonates. An additional 120 people who were taking bisphosphonates in pill form have suffered from bone, joint or muscle pain leaving them bedridden or in need of walkers, crutches or wheelchairs.
