Iodine is an essential trace mineral necessary for the production of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4). Although approximately 80% of the dietary intake of iodine is sequestered by the thyroid gland, just about every tissue in the human body requires iodine. They include salivary glands, the stomach mucosa, the choroid plexus, the mammary glands, prostate tissue and the ovaries. In fact, every cell in our body has iodine receptors.

However, iodine is found severely lacking in the typical western diet to the point that medical testing has shown that 95% to 98% of Americans are deficient. Consequently, as a result of decreased iodine status, sufficient thyroxine cannot be produced by most people, negatively impacting thyroid function and the function of other tissues as well. Other ongoing studies are showing that iodine supplementation can reduce the risk of many cancers such as breast cancer, cancer of the ovary and prostate cancer.

Additionally, published information suggests iodine/iodide supplementation helps to maintain healthy estrogen hormone ratios. Estrogen inhibits the absorption of iodine according to Jorge D. Flechas, MD.

Our bodies use two types of iodine: Iodine and Iodide. IODIZYME-HP™ supplies 5 mg of iodine and 7.5 mg of iodide per scored tablet.

NOTE:  The Journal of the American Medical Association in 1976 stated that stuides indicate using thyroid hormones (Synthroid, Levoxyl and even dessicated thyroid) without adequate Iodine intake can increase the chances of breast cancer and maybe other cancers as well.

Serving Size - 1/2 tablet 

Ingredient List

Each 1/2 tablet supplies the following:

Iodine - 2.5mg
Potassium Iodide - 3.75mg

Total Iodine/Iodide - 6.25mg per 1/2 tablet

Other Ingredients: Cellulose, Stearic acid (vegetable source), magnesium stearate (vegetable source), silica and food glaze.

Usage

RECOMMENDATION: One half (1/2) tablet each day (before 3:00 PM) as a dietary supplement or as otherwise recommended by your healthcare professional.
