Organic Milk Thistle Seed - Original to the Mediterranean region of Europe, Milk Thistle has been noted for treating a variety of illness since the time of the Greeks and Romans. Today, in the United State, the plant is used to treat congestion of the liver, spleen and kidneys. It’s also said to protect the liver from damage against viruses, toxins and alcohol abuse, and in particular, against heavy use of the over-the-counter drug, acetaminophen. There are several reasons to use the milk thistle seed rather than silymarin extract. Using the whole herb is recommended as often it will have a more balanced effect. The milk thistle extract silymarin, for instance, has proven useful in treating liver disease. However, the main drawback to using silymarin is that, if a healthcare professional prescribes other drugs, such as steroids, silymarin can interfere with the liver's ability to detoxify them. Milk thistle seed has the same healing effect on the liver without interfering with the organ's ability to detoxify drugs or environmental chemicals. It also has a side benefit of normalizing blood lipids as the liver heals.
Wildcrafted Chanca Piedra (grown and harvested under organic conditions)- Chanca Piedra is a composite name, "chanca" meaning "to break" in Quechua and "piedra" meaning "stone" in Spanish. It is the popular name that is given to several small shrub-like plants in the Phyllanthus genus (botanical family Euphorbiaceae), including Phyllanthus niruri, and Phyllanthus stipulatis. Chanca Piedra actually got its name because one of the outstanding qualities of this herb, according to the therapeutic herbal tradition of Peru, where knowledge of rainforest remedies spread to Andean civilizations, is to break up and expel kidney stones and gall stones. It is also believed to help stimulate the production of bile thus promoting healthy liver and gall bladder function. It is also traditionally used to clear obstructions throughout the various internal organs of the body by promoting the elimination of mucous and stones.
